When I first started theSound Plug, it was solely based on my love for South African music, watching our music industry grow and become something that truly embraces and acts as a tool to unify us really intrigued me. I wanted to create something that will house and promote the South African music culture.
Reason for my hiatus – As my journey searching for new music and acting as a music curator grew, I became more interested in sharing more tales either than those music related. So, I embarked on growing the portal to something that caters for all creatives. I took it upon myself to leave Tumblr and kick start things off with a brand-new home: theBelvedere Temple. It marks the beginning of something new, music is no longer the only art form shared on the portal – music will always be the core foundation of the portal but will now be joined by art and fashion. Including everything that’s culturally bound. These are the vessels of self-expression and our culture as a modern youth.
Many have asked me the reason behind the name change – it’s honestly simple. theSound Plug had a very much music connotation, while the new name embodies everything that is media related – it doesn’t sound fixated on one stream.
The re-branding phase came with many sleepless nights and taking international calls just to fund the vison. In the process there were so many delays just to have the final product. Some special thanks goes to all the people that have supported me throughout this entire period, from family, friends and you guys, yes you!! People that have always followed my work are special to me because you are who I do it for. That is why so many improvements were made for you guys to receive the final product in the best way possible way.
