We all know the story line about Durban having a great lack of infrastructure to support up and coming artists. This often leads to Durban acts having to leave the city in search of greener pastures. This has lrft Durban with a great lack of an industry regarding the music space.

Currently there seems to be a change around that notion, a good amount of acts are trying to penetrate the market while still being based on the East Coast.  There’s a nucleus of talented acts that keep producing quality music with an essence of hard work and consistency. Artists such as, Rhea Blek, Red Robyn, Garde just to name a few, are all gradually shifting the paradigm.

Durban singer Yashna has been a part of that nucleus that’s been slowly coming to peoples attention. She taps fellow Durban natives IV & Neptune for her latest single titled You Know, the bouncy R&B record is produced by Neo Ndawo, who has worked with plenty of Durban music makers. Yashna and Neo have forged a great working relationship that their chemistry is evident in their work together.

Yashna’s sound is a crossbreed between R&B and Trap Pop. You Know leans more towards the side of her bouncy Trap Pop aesthetic, with IV & Neptune of either side of Yashna’s hook. The song has a very strong radio friendly feel, it sounds like a song you can bump during rush hour on your way home.
