Durban singer, songwriter and producer Sibu Nzuza has recently signed a deal with Ambitiouz Entertainment. The guitarist has worked closely with Aewon Wolf and has tight affiliations to his Wolfpack production. Sibu has an indie sound which mixes elements of Pop and Afrobeats. Labeling him as a rapper would be a bit weird though he does slip into bars every now and again. His melody based sound switches between his native language Zulu and also English, at the same time he still throws in a bit of Durban slang every now and again.
He fits the audience of his new label’s target market, with a similar aesthetic to Sjava and the previously signed singer Amanda Black. To cap off the momentous occasion, Sibu dropped a brand new single titled 5 minutes. On the single he talks to a girl that indirectly seduces him, derailing him from writing new material. The single is very laid back and services as a perfect introduction to the Ambitiouz Entertainment audience.
The partnership shows the amount of talent that’s hidden in Durban, this may prove to be the revival the city’s music and indie market needs. With tons of acts constantly producing quality content, it’s really a bay of plenty talented acts.
