Thuto Motheo, the Kimberley born crooner and rapper, who’s now based in KwaZulu Natal shares Come Duze with us. A slow R&B song based around love, Thuto candidly sings and switches it with rapping in between. The song is smeared with an essence of darkness in it’s R&B style. Thuto is longing to get closer to the girl he pursues but there’s a texture of uncertainty. “Come Duze is a song I wrote for my girlfriend, and I hope everyone that listens to it can relate. Basically I’m saying she should stay by my side and never go. Aye man if you were in love, you’d feel the same way too”. Thuto explains the song to us. You can stream the song above.

Vinci shares 4 off his extended play titled How To Do It Myself , which he recently released. The song follows a minimalist approach, from the production and the delivery. Dark Hip Hop and R&B have really been a thing nowadays. Vinci takes on the same approach with this single. he explains the song as being “an electrically charged, dark summer anthem”. 4 takes a different route from the standard Trap aesthetic and sound. You can stream the song and the full EP above and on his SoundCloud.

IGazi Lomutu is a song by Dope Chain Gang, a music group from Pietermaritzburg just outside Durban. The record is certainly different from what we’re used to hearing. The song takes shape in the sound of Mashayabhuqe Ka Mamba and Sjava. The sound style makes sense given all the artists are from KwaZulu Natal. It’s such a refreshing song, even though the packaging is presented with a Trap and Hip Hop vanish. The song is conscious and delivers a message. Produced by their in-house producer Ruff Kay, you can stream it above
